Folic Acid (Vitamin B9) is a compounded vitamin for injection, sometimes added to Myers Cocktail and commonly used in IV nutritional formulas. This can be administered with B12 to lower homocysteine and is indicated for the treatment of megaloblastic anemia where this has been shown to be caused by folic acid deficiency, either due to inadequate dietary intake, malabsorption, or increased utilization, including pregnancy and lactation, haemolyticanemia, hyperthyroidism, exfoliative, dermatitis, and chronic infection.
