This test diagnoses Herpes Types 1 and 2.
This test checks for antibodies your body makes to fight the herpes simplex virus (HSV). It can help determine if you have been exposed to HSV-1 (usually causes oral herpes) or HSV-2 (usually causes genital herpes) in the past. The presence of IgG antibodies indicates a past infection but not necessarily a current one.
