Serum Growth Hormone Triple Specimen LabCorp
LabCorp Test #: 038844, CPT: 83003x3
Growth Hormone (GH) testing is primarily used to identify growth hormone deficiency and to help evaluate pituitary gland function. GH testing is also used to detect excess GH. Typically, the Serum Growth Hormone Triple Specimen test is used as a follow-up to other abnormal pituitary hormone test results. Since GH is released in pulses, a singe measurement of the blood level is not normally clinically useful. Therefore, testing for the suppression or stimulation of GH release from the pituitary is usually done. This triple specimen GH test most accurately tests the response to growth hormone and GH stimulating peptides, such as Sermorelin.
