Uric Acid is a waste product that is typically filtered out by the kidneys and passed via urination and defecation. If the kidneys fail to remove Uric Acid from the blood, it can indicate an issue with kidney function. In addition, elevated levels of Uric Acid can cause crystals to develop in the joints and tissues, leading to gout. If left untreated, gout can cause painful deposits called tophi to grow in the joints and nearby tissues.

High levels of Uric Acid may also indicate kidney stones or kidney failure.

Who is this test for?

If you’re experiencing symptoms of gout, this test can diagnose the condition. Gout symptoms include pain, swelling, redness, and lumps on joint sites, typically on the big toe but less commonly on other joints, as wellThis test can also provide insight into kidney health and function.
