The Copper, Serum test is typically performed in instances of suspected copper toxicity or to rule out Wilson's disease. This test may also be useful in monitoring the nutritional adequacy of parenteral or enteral nutrition, especially when copper deficiency may be suspected because of ongoing gastrointestinal losses of the element.
