alpha-Fetoprotein (AFP), Tumor Marker LabCorp

This test measures the level of alpha-fetoprotein, a substance produced by the liver and yolk sac of a fetus, in your blood. It is often used during pregnancy to screen for certain birth defects. It can also be used to help detect certain types of cancer, like liver or testicular cancer, in adults. Elevated levels might indicate a need for further investigation.
