This injectable nutrient combination contains three amino acids; L-Glutamine, L-Arginine, and L-Carnitine (GAC).
L-Glutamine is an amino acid, found most abundantly within human muscle tissue. It is most notable for its healing properties to the gastrointestinal tract and is helpful with ulcers, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), and gluten sensitivities. Elevated cortisol levels, which can result from trauma (wounds, burns, surgeries) can deplete glutamine levels. It is considered anti-catabolic, which means it can help the body maintain muscle under stress or disease. Athletes use glutamine to help their muscles recover from exercise and prevent loss of muscle while dieting. Some use glutamine for digestive system conditions, such as stomach ulcers, ulcerative colitis, and Crohn's disease. It may also help prevent weight loss in those who have wasting diseases, such as HIV or AIDS.
L-Arginine is an amino acid which helps accelerate wound healing, improves glucose tolerance, and promotes thymus activity. It is used to reverse hypertension; increase blood flow and nitric oxide (NO); and increase human growth hormone levels (used as a GH stimulation test). L-Arginine also has significant effects on muscle metabolism and recovery. It remains the largest source of nitrogen in the body for NO production. It has several important metabolic and biological effects, which include improving vascular function, being a substrate in the synthesis of creatine, and the ability to stimulate insulin; glucagon; catecholamine; and growth hormone (GH) secretion, leading to anabolic and anti-catabolic effects on skeletal muscle.
L-Carnitine is an amino acid which assists with fatty acid metabolism and weight control; myocardial infarction protection; promotes cellular energy; reduces fatigue; and may also be good for circulation disorders. This amino acid is required for the transport and breakdown of body fat for the generation of metabolic energy. Oral supplementation can decrease fat mass, preserve muscle during exercise, and reduce muscle fatigue. It is an important regulator of skeletal muscle fuel selection; and is needed to determine whether muscle tissue utilizes carbohydrates or fat for energy. When taken orally, L-Carnitine requires a high dose to promote fat tissue breakdown. Only a fraction of L-Carnitine is absorbed during oral digestion. When administered by injection, nutrients like carnitine are completely absorbed by the body.
