The Prothrombin Antibodies, IgG test is used to help detect antiprothrombin antibodies to aid in the diagnosis of antiophospholipid syndrome and to confirm antiprothrombin antibody presence in patients with lupus anticoagulants and hypoprothrombinemia.

The antiphospholipid antibody syndrome (APS) is the most common acquired risk factor for thrombosis. Individuals with APS have an increased risk for venous thrombosis, stroke, myocardial infarction, thromboembolism, thrombocytopenia, and/or recurrent miscarriages.
