Des-gamma-carboxy Prothrombin (DCP) LabCorp

The Des-gamma-carboxy Prothrombin (DCP) test is intended for use as an aid in the risk assessment of patients with chronic liver disease for progression to hepatocellular carcinoma in conjunction with other laboratory findings, imaging studies, and clinical assessment.

Des-gamma-carboxy Prothrombin (DCP) is also referred to as a protein induced by the absense of vitamin K, and is a nonfunctional precursor of Prothrombin. Prothrombin is produced by the liver and serves a critical role in normal hemostasis.
