Babesia microti, Real-time DNA PCR LabCorp

This test looks for the genetic material of Babesia microti, a parasite spread by ticks that can cause a malaria-like illness. It is used to diagnose babesiosis, especially when symptoms are present or if there's been a known tick bite. The test is very sensitive and can detect the parasite even when it's not easily seen in a blood smear.
